Persuasive Speech about Procrastination

Did you remember in the third semester we get an article from Mr. Cons about procrastination? Do you still remember what that is? Okay, if you forget the meaning of procrastination I will remind you. Procrastination is when you putt of a task as to do it at a later date. Last semester, I procrastinated in my structure class. We had progress two test and the materials were taken directly from the book and I put off reading the chapter until the night before the test and I could not finish either of the chapter by the time I remembered that I had to read them. The next morning I was cramming as much of the chapter into my head as I could. Apparently, my brain did not retain the cramming session from that morning. I got the results of my test back and I got poor grade.
Procrastination may lead to incomplete assignment. For example, you get an assignment from our lecturer one week ago and tomorrow is the deadline. At times you want to do the assignment but your friend asks you to accompany his/her to do something else. By the time you get home, you are too exhausted to do anything and lie down on your bed and close your eyes. In the morning you wake up and get ready to go to college. It is not until you are on the motorcycle you remember that you have not done your homework. It is too late and you have just procrastinated.
Procrastinating may also lead to missed opportunities. For example, if you see a recruitment for a committee that you are interested in and you decide to apply for it, you might say to yourself, “Oh, I will apply the recruitment next week”. Next week you forget, and instead, you remember that a day after that. But by the time you are too late. You realize that the deadline was a day ago if only you would have applied right away, you would have had a chance. A missed opportunity, just because you had procrastinated.
Almost everybody in the college live is affected by this problem of procrastination.  Why do many students procrastinate? First they are being afraid of failure. For instance, when the students feel that they are not ready for that assignment, anxiety will build up and they will choose to put off the assignments so as to prepare or wait for information from elsewhere.  Second they engage or try to do the assignments that they do not have passion for. And the last is they want to put off an assignment and wait until they have good mode. Procrastination leads to frustration, stress, wasted time, low self-esteem, lost opportunities poor academic performance and shoddy jobs.
Procrastination is related with poor time management. And the best way to avoid procrastination is managing your time well. Once you have set out a list, you should make sure that you have the discipline to do follow the activities in that order. This will make sure that you do not put off the assignment. Always check a task properly so that you do not make the wrong judgment about it.

Now you know one of the reasons behind poor grades, missed opportunities, incomplete assignments, and many more. You also know what to do, right? Don’t procrastinate! Get to it right away and take my advice to manage your time and it is the right thing to do.
