Benefits of Public Speaking

Public speaking is a skill that can be trained, practiced, and utilized to benefit in conformity with the needs of listeners, among others to convey information, to persuade and influence others, and share the knowledge possessed by a person. Public speaking can enrich personal life, professional life and the outside world. Some people try to speak in public fluently and accurately in order to build a good communication. The others find that it is not easy to speak in public. The purpose of public speaking can range from simply transmitting information, to motivating people to act, to simply telling a story. In this time, I will tell you the benefits of public speaking. There are some benefits of public speaking, but I will explain three of them.
First, enhance self-efficacy. Self-efficacy is a reason that necessary to make students’ able to speak in public with confidence. According to Bandura (1994) self-efficacy will affect the way people react to stressful situation. In Public Speaking class, for example, we are supposed to give a speech weekly around five or seven minutes. We can speak about the hottest issue or about our topic in Academic Essay Writing Class. By speaking in public it can overcome the fears and insecurities. According to the University Center, Rochester, many people rank a fear of public speaking at the top of list of things they dread, even ahead of death. Learning to write a speech and deliver it can lessen anxiety about speaking in public.
Second, improve communication skills. When we write the speech, we have to think carefully about the best organizational framework, persuasive strategy, and language to communicate our message to the audience. This type of thinking can help us improve our communication skills in other areas of our life. Furthermore, connecting with audiences can be a great reminder that someone has valuable insights and opinions to share with the worlds.  When we make a speech, we write the essay and make rubric of the speech. By writing the speech it will exercise and strengthen our critical thinking skills.
Third, it will allow a person to make a difference in his/her life, business, community, and career. Having the opportunity to influence people’s thoughts put a person in position to create real positive change in other people’s lives. One of the best ways to learn is teach, and public speaking is exactly an opportunity to teach. Public speaking help a person to improve his/her knowledge. In order for anything important to happen an idea needs to be transferred from one person to many. President Nixon, for instance, did this when he inspired American to put a man on the moon. Marthin Luther King also gave his “I have a dream speech” which inspired a nation and broke down racial barriers. Without his leadership and his inspirational speech, it may have taken an extra 10 years to bring equality to all races. Public speaking is one of the great ways to get your idea across and make a difference.
In conclusion, there are three benefits of public speaking that are enhance self-efficacy improve communication skills, and allow a person to make a difference in his/her life, business, community, and career. Public speaking can be considered a discourse community. Public speaking engagements are great places to meet other people who share their interests. It can be very satisfying to share something that matters to us with people outside our usual social circle. The important thing to be memorized is a good speaker should be able to change the emoticon of their listeners, not just inform them.
